A multi-agency search spanning Los Altos and Mountain View led to the arrest of an unhoused man in his 20s. The pursuit began last Friday when the Mountain View Police Department notified the Los Altos Police Department about a man spotted in a resident’s garage near Springer Rd. and Vista Grande Ave. around 11:07 a.m.
Following this initial report, Los Altos officers quickly mobilized, and at approximately 11:20 a.m., another call directed them to the Arroyo Rd. area. According to a social media update from the Los Altos Police Department, witnesses reported the suspect running through backyards and jumping fences.
The chase escalated with a sighting on the 800 block of Raymundo Ave., where the suspect allegedly attempted to steal a bicycle from a garage but fled without it. In response, the Los Altos Police Department deployed K-9 Brock, utilized a drone, and gathered information from neighborhood witnesses to track the suspect’s movements.
The pursuit ended in a backyard on Hollingsworth Dr. in Mountain View, where officers located and arrested the suspect safely around 2:00 p.m. He faces charges of burglary related to the Los Altos incident, along with a variety of other offenses, and was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
