A woman and her attorney have been identified as the victims of a fatal double shooting in Napa, as confirmed by the county coroner’s office on Friday.
Georgina Padilla, 38, of Napa, and Ralph Andino III, 54, of American Canyon, were found outside an apartment complex on the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue on Thursday morning. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 9:45 a.m. and discovered both individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save their lives, Padilla and Andino were pronounced dead at the scene.
Andino’s family informed NBC Bay Area that Padilla was one of his clients, suggesting he may have been making a house call to her apartment at the time of the shooting. According to an archived version of Andino’s law firm website, he handled various cases, including family law, personal injury, and DUIs.
The Napa Police Department reported that a suspect was identified within hours of the incident. The suspect, Baltazar Rangel Juarez, 28, was located less than four hours later at the intersection of Juarez and 2nd streets. Upon activation of police lights and siren, Juarez allegedly fled in his vehicle, leading officers on a chase to Kennedy Park. There, his car became disabled, but he refused to exit despite police orders.
According to Napa police, “the suspect continuously refused to surrender and ultimately suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” Juarez was treated for his injuries at the scene and is currently hospitalized. Reports indicate that he was Padilla’s “new boyfriend.”
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Napa police Detective Dustin Dodd at 707-257-9568.
