The San Mateo Police Department has arrested a 29-year-old man, Carlos Utan, for allegedly vandalizing several cars along South Fremont Street on October 7.
Officers responded to multiple reports of a male suspect damaging vehicles in the area. Witnesses described seeing Utan breaking mirrors and windshields of parked cars with a stick.
Upon arrival, police detained Utan and spoke with several witnesses who reported that he was using a paint roller to strike the vehicles as he walked down the street. Authorities discovered eight vehicles with various degrees of damage, including broken side mirrors, shattered windshields, and dented hoods.
Utan has been arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and has been booked into the San Mateo County jail.
