The San Jose Police Department’s METRO units conducted a raid on an illegal gambling den that was also involved in drug sales at a residence in San Jose on Friday. The operation resulted in the recovery of firearms and illegal drugs.
The investigation, which focused on ongoing narcotics sales linked to the illegal gambling operation, targeted a location in the 1400 block of Meadow Glen Way. Authorities identified Glenn Jingco and Sophana El as the primary suspects in the operation.
On October 3, police obtained and executed a search warrant at the Meadow Glen residence. METRO units, in collaboration with SJPD’s MERGE units, seized a significant cache of items, including:
- A loaded privately manufactured firearm with no identifiable serial number
- A short-barreled shotgun
- Multiple rounds of ammunition
- An unspecified amount of methamphetamine
- U.S. currency in various denominations
- Approximately seven large illegal gambling machines
- Various drug paraphernalia
Both Jingco and El were found to be prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior convictions. They were arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for operating an illegal gambling and narcotics establishment, as stated by the police.
