A burglary occurred on the 600 block of Vine Street in Menlo Park around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, as reported by the Menlo Park Police Department’s daily crime log.
Nicole Acker, a spokesperson for the department, revealed that the suspect or suspects gained entry by forcing open a glass side door. The homeowner, who was away at the time, estimates that approximately $40,000 worth of property was stolen from the residence.
This incident marks the second burglary on Vine Street within a month; a previous burglary occurred on the 700 block on September 23, also while the homeowner was not present.
Acker stated that investigators are actively working on the cases, reviewing footage from neighboring security cameras and utilizing the city’s automated license plate readers to gather evidence.
To enhance home security, the Menlo Park Police Department recommends residents lock all windows and doors when away, install a monitored alarm system, keep valuables out of sight, illuminate both the home and surrounding areas, and consider installing a camera system as a preventive measure against burglary.
