The Mega Millions jackpot has soared to $862 million for tonight’s drawing, marking the 28th consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner since September. If someone wins, it will be the largest prize ever offered in December.
Florida residents have the opportunity to join the ranks of the state’s previous five Mega Millions jackpot winners by purchasing a $2 ticket at any local retailer.
The winner can choose between receiving the jackpot as 30 annual installments or a one-time lump-sum payment of $392.1 million. To claim the cash option, winners must do so within 60 days of the winning draw.

All Mega Millions prizes, including the jackpot, must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing.
With the holiday season in full swing, players are reminded to check their tickets carefully. In addition to the jackpot, there are several lower-tier prizes ranging from $2 up to $5 million for matching non-jackpot combinations.
Mega Millions jackpots start at $20 million and continue to grow until a winner is crowned. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white ball numbers (1-70) and the Mega Ball (1-25).
