A 34-year-old man wanted for murder in connection with a shooting at the Victorville Galleria Mall has been arrested in San Jose, according to officials.
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 3:21 p.m., deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the Galleria, also known as the indoor swap meet, located in the 14500 block of Palmdale Road. Upon arrival, deputies found 51-year-old Guy Taylor, a Victorville resident, who had been shot. Despite attempts to perform life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail took over the investigation. They identified the suspect as Harold Phillips Jr., noting that a physical altercation had occurred between Phillips and Taylor at the time of the shooting. After failing to locate Phillips, authorities issued a murder arrest warrant for him.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the United States Marshals Office located Phillips in San Jose. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail. Phillips was later transported to the West Valley Detention Center, where he remains in custody without bail.
