On November 28, 2024, at approximately 9:55 p.m., a tragic crash occurred on SR-1, north of Point Cabrillo Road, on the Casper Bridge. Party #1, identified as Rowe, was driving a 2007 Infiniti sedan northbound with Passenger #1 when the vehicle lost control. The car veered into the southbound lane and collided with a 2023 GMC van driven by Party #3, Whipple, who was traveling south at around 50 mph.
The impact resulted in the death of Passenger #1, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Infiniti, Rowe, was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The driver of the GMC van sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Impairment of the Infiniti’s driver is currently unknown, but it is suspected. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. The identity of the deceased passenger is being withheld pending family notification.
