A former major from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has been sentenced to prison after his request for a new trial was denied, following his conviction on charges of abusive sexual contact with a minor.
Justin Sigmon, 47, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Florida to two years in federal prison, with credit for the time he has already served since his arrest in May 2023. Following his prison sentence, Sigmon will serve ten years of supervised release.

The charge stemmed from an incident that occurred while Sigmon and his family were aboard a cruise ship that had departed from the Port of Miami. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) brought the charges after a recorded incident involving a young girl.
Sigmon resigned from his position at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office following his arrest.
