Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Responds to CeeDee Lamb’s Sun Glare Concern

Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb missed a 3-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter against the Eagles, a crucial play just before the two-minute warning. The reason? Lamb lost sight of the ball due to the sun.

“I couldn’t see the ball. Couldn’t see the ball at all. The sun,” Lamb explained after the Cowboys’ 34-6 loss.

Since AT&T Stadium opened, the position of the field, which faces east and west instead of the usual north-south, has caused ongoing issues with the sun. Especially after daylight saving time, the glare from the setting sun streaming through the west-side glass affects receivers like Lamb, who often struggle with visibility during late-afternoon games.

Lamb has long advocated for curtains to cover the windows, a suggestion that has been proposed but rejected by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

“Yeah. One thousand percent,” Lamb confirmed when asked if he thought curtains would help.

When asked if he would personally tell Jones, Lamb humorously replied, “I mean, y’all are doing my job for me right now.”

Jones, however, addressed the sun issue in a recent media interview, seemingly downplaying the concern. He acknowledged that the Cowboys are well aware of the sun’s position during games.

“By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we flip the coin,” Jones said, taking a sarcastic tone. “Let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one. Are you kidding me?”

Jones also pointed out that the sun affects both the Cowboys and visiting teams, alluding to the fact that every team faces the same challenges when playing at AT&T Stadium.

“Everybody’s got the same thing,” Jones said. “Every team that comes in here has the same issues. They know where the sun is going to be. We get to know that almost a year in advance. So someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon? We’re fine. But everybody plays in the sun out here.”
