For the eighth consecutive year, Atherton, a small town on the Peninsula, has secured its place as the most expensive zip code in the U.S., according to Property Shark’s annual rankings. Despite experiencing a 5% decline in home prices, the median sale price in Atherton remains an astonishing $7.9 million.
This slight decrease of $400,000 stands in contrast to the upward trend observed in 69% of the top 100 most expensive zip codes across the country. California, particularly the Bay Area, continues to dominate the rankings, boasting 39 zip codes and reinforcing its status as the nation’s most expensive region.
Even amidst recent market slowdowns, the Bay Area maintains its reputation as the priciest metropolitan area in the United States.
