Political leaders in San Mateo County are urging Sheriff Christina Corpus to resign following a report detailing serious misconduct within her office. On Monday, U.S. Representatives Kevin Mullin and Anna Eshoo, State Senator Josh Becker, and Assemblymembers Marc Berman and Diane Papan expressed their concerns, stating that Corpus’ leadership is putting public safety at risk and costing taxpayers due to avoidable legal liabilities.
The investigation, led by former Judge LaDoris Cordell, revealed significant abuses of power, retaliation, and other troubling actions within the Sheriff’s Office. Despite the growing pressure for her to step down, including a vote by the Board of Supervisors last week, Sheriff Corpus has refused to resign. Instead, she has defended her actions and continued to support her controversial chief of staff.
