Conducted in November 2024, the survey found that 70% of employees plan to take advantage of Black Friday deals, with 84% admitting they’ll shop during work hours.
The survey highlights varying levels of distraction, with 43% of respondents expecting to spend between 1 to 3 hours shopping, and 21% anticipating 4 to 6 hours. In addition, 18% plan to call in sick, and 31% of office-based workers will opt to work remotely for easier access to deals.
The survey also noted that nearly 32% of shoppers plan to spend more this year, citing inflation and potential tariff increases as factors. Julia Toothacre, Chief Career Strategist at ResumeTemplates, comments, “This shopping season poses a significant challenge for workplace productivity.”
