Walmart’s Holiday Hours: Early Christmas Eve Closures for Last-Minute Shoppers

Walmart shoppers need to plan ahead for any last-minute gift needs due to significant changes in store hours this holiday season. While Walmart will still offer in-store and online discounts for last-minute gifts, store hours will be limited around Christmas.

On Christmas Eve, Walmart’s 4,606 locations nationwide will open as usual at 6 AM, but will close early at 6 PM. Typically, Walmart operates from 6 AM to 11 PM, meaning customers will have a shortened shopping window of just 12 hours, compared to the usual 17. Additionally, all Walmart locations will be closed for 24 hours on Christmas Day, allowing employees time to celebrate with their loved ones.

For specific store hours, shoppers can use Walmart’s store locator tool to check for any variations depending on location and state.

Target’s Hours: Similar to Walmart’s Schedule

Target will also have adjusted hours for the holidays. The retailer will close all 1,963 locations for Christmas Day, and will feature limited hours on Christmas Eve, from 7 AM to 8 PM. Target stores will remain open until midnight on December 23 for last-minute shoppers.
