Updated Social Security: New SSI Payment Dates for 2025

The 2025 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment schedule has been released, so if you’re waiting for your next check, here’s everything you need to know. The first payment of 2025 won’t be on the January 1 date as usual. Instead, the payment will be sent on December 31, 2024, to avoid a delay due to the New Year’s Day federal holiday.

February’s payment will be delivered earlier, on January 31, 2025. This shift in the schedule continues with March’s payment, which is impacted by the weekend. Since March 1 falls on a Saturday, the payment will be sent on the previous business day, February 28, 2025. So, don’t worry if your March payment arrives a little earlier than expected—it will be delivered a full 24 hours in advance.

Looking ahead, April and May will see SSI payments on the first of the month, with no changes. However, June’s payment will be delivered on May 30, 2025. That means two payments will be made in May, so be sure to plan accordingly. The amount for 2025 will include the COLA increase, with individual maximum benefits set at $967 and $1,450 for couples.

The payment schedule for July and August remains regular, with payments on the first of the month. But if you also receive Social Security retirement benefits, you may benefit from a double payday. On August 1, retirees who qualify for both SSI and retirement benefits will receive payments for both in one go.

In September, the SSI payment will be made on August 29, 2025. October will feature two payments—one on the first, and another on October 31 for November’s payment. December will also bring two paydays, with the final one on December 31 for the January 1, 2026, payment.

Make sure to mark these dates on your calendar, as they are the key to planning your budget for the year.
