SSI payments in December ranging from maximums of up to $484 to $1,450 to be issued in 4 weeks says Social Security

According to Vibes.okdiario , The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program provides 12 payments per year, one each month. However, in some cases, SSI payments may be sent a day or two earlier. This usually happens because Social Security only processes payments on business days, and banks or financial institutions are closed on weekends and holidays.

For example, the January SSI payment will be made on December 31, 2024. This payment will include the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase, meaning recipients will receive an additional $2.50 for every $100 they receive from the program.

Who Qualifies for the December 31 Payment?

To qualify for the December 31 SSI payment, you must meet specific eligibility criteria. These include:

  • Having a low income and minimal resources
  • Meeting one of the following conditions:
    • A qualifying disability
    • Being blind
    • Being at least 65 years old

Only those who have been approved by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and meet these criteria will receive the December 31 payment. This is different from Social Security retirement or SSDI payments, as SSI recipients only get one payment per month.

How Much Will SSI Recipients Get in December?

The amount you receive from SSI will depend on your income, resources, and benefits. Generally, the lower your income and resources, the higher your SSI payment.

For example:

  • Essential person (a caregiver for an SSI recipient) can receive up to $484, up from $472.
  • Individuals can receive up to $967, up from $943.
  • Married couples can receive up to $1,450, up from $1,415.

On average, SSI recipients receive about $697, though those aged 65 and older typically receive about $576. These figures reflect the recent COLA increase for 2025.
