SSDI Payment Schedule for October 2024: Your Next Direct Deposit Timeline

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments are available exclusively to American workers who have paid sufficient payroll taxes to Social Security and have a qualifying disability that prevents them from working for over a year.

If you have not applied for and received Social Security’s approval, you will not be eligible for the upcoming SSDI payments in October 2024. Following the payments issued on October 3 and 9, there are two remaining paydays this month. Below, we outline eligibility criteria and payment amounts.

Who Qualifies for SSDI Payments in October?

As we enter the second week of October, some disability beneficiaries have already received their Social Security checks, while others will receive their payments next week.

To qualify for the SSDI payment scheduled for October 16, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have filed your application after April 30, 1997
  • Received approval for your SSDI application
  • Complied with all Social Security Administration (SSA) rules
  • Not be receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) while on SSDI
  • Have a birthday between the 11th and the 20th of any month

Those waiting for the payment on October 23 must meet similar requirements, with the exception of the birthday condition, which must fall between the 21st and the 31st.

What Are the Payment Amounts for SSDI on October 16 and 23?

The Social Security Administration can issue maximum payments of up to $3,822 for any of the October SSDI payments. However, most disability recipients receive average amounts.

As of August 2024, the average SSDI payment is approximately $1,539. If your payment is less than this amount, you may qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) if you meet the other eligibility requirements.

Additionally, if you have had a child or recently got married, they may also qualify for SSDI payments, potentially increasing your family’s monthly income.
