According to Vibes.okdiario The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program typically disburses payments on the first day of each month. However, when the first day falls on a weekend or Federal Holiday, Social Security adjusts the payment schedule to ensure recipients receive their benefits on time, without delay.
This November, there is a special payment schedule change. While eligible SSI recipients will receive their regular payment on November 1, 2024, there will be an additional payment on November 29, 2024. This is because December 1 falls on a Sunday, and Social Security will issue the December payment on the previous business day, November 29. This adjustment ensures that recipients can access their benefits before banks and SSA offices close for the weekend.
Why the November 29 Payment?
Social Security reschedules payments when the first day of the month is a weekend or holiday to avoid delays. For December, since December 1 is a Sunday, SSI payments will be issued on November 29. Similarly, the January 2025 SSI payment will be issued early on December 31, 2024, since January 1 is a Federal Holiday. This December payment will include the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase.

This November payment will be the last SSI check of 2024. Starting in December, the COLA increase of 2.5% will be reflected in SSI payments. For January 2025, individuals will receive up to $967, married couples will get up to $1,450, and essential persons will receive up to $484.
