According to The Sun , Shoppers looking for holiday season essentials at JCPenney should plan ahead, as the department store chain will be closing all 650 locations for Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024. This closure is in honor of employees and customers who observe the holiday, meaning those hoping to shop at JCPenney will need to either visit in advance or wait until Black Friday to make their purchases.
While many competitors like Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Marshall’s, Target, and Walmart will also close for Thanksgiving, it’s worth noting that most stores will reopen the following day for Black Friday. For those who still want to get a head start on their holiday shopping, JCPenney is offering thousands of deals leading up to and throughout Black Friday.
CEO Marc Rosen emphasized the company’s long-standing holiday tradition and commitment to meeting customer expectations with quality gifts, fashion, and great deals. JCPenney has also invested in enhancing both its in-store and online shopping experiences in preparation for the holiday season.
Shoppers had early access to Black Friday discounts from November 8 to 10, and now they can take advantage of ongoing deals from November 22 to December 1, with discounts up to 75% off fine jewelry, 50% off Levi’s, and up to 50% off Disney toys and apparel. Fashion for men and women will also be discounted by up to 60%, with boots starting at just $19.99.
On Black Friday, JCPenney will offer exclusive one-day-only deals, with giveaways throughout the day, beginning at 5 a.m. local time. Special merchandise, including a Golden Tote, will be available, and the company is partnering with Amazon Prime Video to offer promotions during NFL game days.

After experiencing financial struggles in recent years, including filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2020, JCPenney is working to recover. The retailer, once operating over 2,000 stores, now operates 650 locations after a restructuring that involved store closures and a buyout by Brookfield Asset Management and Simon Property Group. Despite challenges, JCPenney is gearing up for a strong holiday season with appealing deals for customers.
