Marshall & Melhorn, a prominent law firm, has agreed to an $800,000 settlement to resolve allegations related to a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information. The breach, which took place between August and September 2021, affected individuals by making them vulnerable to identity theft and fraud. The settlement is available to those whose personal data was compromised, as well as anyone who received a notification about the incident.
While Marshall & Melhorn denies any wrongdoing, it has opted to settle the claims to resolve the issue. Plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit argued that the law firm failed to implement proper data protection measures, leading to significant damage for affected clients. The breach compromised full names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and financial data of both current and former employees.
