Retirees Set to Receive $1,927 Social Security Benefit This Week

According to Vibes.okdiario , Many retirees in the United States may still be waiting to receive their December Social Security check or direct deposit. For those born between the 1st and 10th of the month, December 11 will be the scheduled payday, provided they filed and received approval after April 30, 1997. It’s important to note that Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will not receive this payment on December 11.

The amount you’ll receive depends on your earnings history. The average retirement benefit for December is $1,927, but some may receive as much as $4,873 if they were high earners. Those who did not receive their payment on December 3 and do not qualify for the check on December 11 still have two more opportunities to get their benefits.

The next payment will be issued on December 18 for those with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month. As with other payments, the recipient must have filed for Social Security and have earned at least 40 work credits. SSI recipients are not eligible for this payment.

If you miss both the December 3 and December 11 payments, you can expect your Social Security payment on December 24, since the regular payment date of December 25 falls on a federal holiday.

For those planning for the future, remember that you can apply for Social Security up to four months before you wish to start receiving benefits. To qualify, you must be at least 62 years old (though your payment will be reduced if you file early), file for Social Security, wait for approval, and have earned at least 40 work credits. If you delay claiming your benefits until age 70, your monthly payments will increase by about 24%. In 2025, retirees who earn the maximum taxable amount for 35 years could receive up to $5,108, up from $4,873 in 2024.
