SSI Payments vs. Social Security Benefits

It’s important to note that SSI payments and regular Social Security benefits are separate programs. Receiving one type of benefit does not automatically qualify someone for the other. Therefore, individuals receiving Social Security retirement or disability benefits must apply separately for SSI if they meet the eligibility criteria.

How to Calculate Your SSI Payments

The SSA provides a calculator to help recipients estimate their total payments based on their unique circumstances. This tool can be especially useful for understanding potential benefits and payment amounts.
