No SSI Payments in October: Next Payment Scheduled for November 1, 2024

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA), has no remaining payments for October. The only SSI payment this month was issued on October 1, making it both the first and last for October.

SSI is a federal program that provides monthly payments to low-income Americans who meet one of three conditions: having a disability, being blind, or being at least 65 years old.

When is the Next SSI Payment?

The Social Security Administration has confirmed the official date for the next SSI payment. Over 7.5 million SSI recipients in the U.S. will receive their payments on November 1.

Because all recipients get their payments on the same day, it simplifies remembering the payday. However, there are occasional changes, and the SSA may send SSI payments earlier than scheduled. For November, the payment will be issued on the first of the month.

Double Payment for Some SSI Recipients

Some SSI recipients also qualify for additional benefits, such as retirement or disability benefits through Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Typically, recipients of retirement or SSDI benefits receive their checks or direct deposits on the third of the month.

However, since November 3 falls on a Sunday—when banks and Social Security offices are closed—the SSA has moved these payments to November 1. As a result, those who qualify for both SSI and Social Security retirement or SSDI benefits will receive both payments on the same day, November 1.

This early payment could provide significant relief for those in need, allowing them to manage expenses, pay off debt, or purchase essential items sooner than expected.
