Lowe’s confirms all 1,700 stores will close down for the entire day in just weeks and Home Depot won’t be much help

According to The Sun , Lowe’s has confirmed that it will close its doors for 24 hours this Thanksgiving, making it unavailable for customers to shop for home improvement products on November 28. This decision is in line with the company’s tradition of closing on major U.S. holidays to allow employees to spend time with their families. Home Depot will also close for Thanksgiving, following a similar practice to give both customers and staff a holiday break.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, shoppers looking for home improvement items will need to plan ahead. Lowe’s typically reopens on Black Friday, which offers a great opportunity for post-holiday shopping, as many stores, including Lowe’s, often feature Black Friday deals.

Other Retail Closures on Thanksgiving

Lowe’s isn’t the only retailer taking a break. Walmart, which had traditionally stayed open on Thanksgiving since the 1980s, will also be closed this year. After the pandemic, the company decided to give employees time off on the holiday. Over 4,000 Walmart locations will shut their doors on Thanksgiving 2024.

Other major retailers such as Costco, Trader Joe’s, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Target will also remain closed, following the trend set in recent years. Best Buy, Macy’s, JCPenney, and Bloomingdale’s will join the ranks of stores closing for Thanksgiving as well.

Plan Ahead for Your Shopping

Shoppers should be aware of altered hours for Black Friday, as many retailers adjust their schedules to accommodate the surge in holiday shopping. For those wanting to visit Lowe’s or Home Depot on Black Friday, it’s advisable to check the store’s hours using their store locator tools to avoid any confusion.

Whether you’re planning to take advantage of Black Friday deals or simply need to prepare in advance for the holiday season, be sure to get your shopping done before Thanksgiving or wait until the stores reopen afterward.
