U.S. citizens are being urged to check their eligibility for a one-time payment of up to $3,244 as part of a class action lawsuit against Magid Glove, a popular protective equipment and clothing brand. This is the final opportunity for those affected to apply for the cash, with no proof of purchase required.
Settlement Overview
The $5.175 million settlement arises from allegations that Magid Glove violated Illinois laws by using “fingerprint time clocks” and temperature scanners over an eight-year period. Anyone who used a fingerprint-scanning clock or had their temperature taken by one of the scanners may be eligible for compensation.
According to the lawsuit, Magid Glove failed to properly notify individuals regarding the use of these devices, thereby collecting biometric information in violation of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). This settlement affects individuals who used either device at Magid’s Romeoville, Illinois facility from January 8, 2016, to August 30, 2024.
Compensation Details
While Magid has not admitted any wrongdoing, they have agreed to the substantial settlement to resolve the class action lawsuit, stating it was done to “save the time, expense, and distraction of litigation.”
Eligible claimants who used a fingerprint scanner may receive payments of approximately $3,244.38. Additionally, those who had their temperature taken using a scanner are set to receive $135.26. Claimants who utilized both devices can apply for both payments.
How to Claim Your Payment
To start the process, individuals must first confirm their eligibility by ensuring they used the relevant devices at the appropriate facility within the specified time frame.
To file a claim, visit the Magid Glove BIPA settlement website and complete the form. A claim login ID and PIN are required to begin the application.
