Date and Eligibility for the Next Social Security Payment
For retirees who:
- Did not begin collecting Social Security benefits before May 1997,
- Are not receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and
- Remain eligible,
They will receive their retirement benefit payment of up to $4,873 on December 11, 2024. To receive this payment on December 11, you must have been born between the 1st and 10th of any month.

Other typical retirement checks include:
- $2,710 for those who filed at age 62,
- $3,822 for those who filed at Full Retirement Age.
However, the highest payment is rare, and most recipients will likely see amounts closer to the average of $1,927.
If your payment amount seems too low, you may be eligible for SSI as well. Additional retirement checks will be issued on December 18 and December 24, 2024.
