Get Your SSI Payment of Up to $472 on This New Date, Social Security Confirms

According to Vibes.okdiario Not all recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) receive the same payment amount. While many Americans may assume that SSI is funded by Social Security, it is actually a federal program separate from Social Security. SSI payments are funded by the federal government to assist low-income individuals, and the amount you receive can vary based on your specific qualifications.

For example, an essential person can receive up to $472 a month. An individual who is blind, disabled, or 65 years old or older with low income and minimal resources can receive up to $943. A married couple who qualifies can receive up to $1,415. These amounts do not include any cost-of-living adjustments (COLA) for 2025.

December SSI Payment Update

All eligible beneficiaries received their November SSI payment on November 1, 2024, but there will be a change for December. Although no payment is scheduled for December 1, it has not been canceled but rather rescheduled. Instead of December 1, your payment will be issued on November 29, 2024—two days in advance. This will effectively mean that you’ll receive two payments in November, but the December payment is just being sent early.

Why Is the December Payment Sent Early?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) schedules the January 1 SSI payment, but it cannot be issued on the federal holiday, so it will be paid on December 31, 2024. This advance payment means that about 7.5 million recipients will receive their 2025 COLA increase before other Social Security beneficiaries, such as retirees.

New SSI Payment Amounts for December 31, 2024

After the COLA adjustment, the maximum SSI payments for recipients in December 2024 will be:

  • Essential person: Up to $484
  • Individual: Up to $967
  • Married couple: Up to $1,450

These new amounts reflect the COLA increase for 2025 and will be distributed to eligible recipients on December 31, 2024.
