Get Ready for Black Friday: Social Security Checks of Up to $4,873 Issued in November

Social Security payments have concluded for millions of retirees in October, with beneficiaries receiving their funds on October 3 and October 9. As Black Friday approaches—set for November 29, 2024—it’s crucial for recipients to plan their finances, especially with rising prices and inflation impacting budgets. Retirement benefits or SSDI checks could provide the necessary funds for holiday shopping or treats.

November Social Security Payments Before Black Friday

The Social Security Administration has outlined the November payment schedule for specific groups:

  • Beneficiaries who received payments before May 1997
  • Individuals receiving both SSI and Social Security benefits

The first payment for those who started collecting retirement or SSDI benefits before May 1997 is scheduled for November 1. Notably, this date is adjusted because November 3 falls on a weekend.

Additionally, SSI recipients scheduled to receive their payments on November 3 will receive their Social Security benefits on November 1 due to the rescheduling. To qualify for both checks, beneficiaries must have applied for retirement or SSDI in addition to their SSI benefits.

Other Social Security Payments Before Black Friday

After November 1, the Agency has established three additional payment dates for retirees and SSDI recipients on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of November. The paydays are as follows:

  • November 13 for birthdays from the 1st to the 10th
  • November 20 for birthdays from the 11th to the 20th
  • November 27 for birthdays from the 21st to the 31st

Interestingly, many SSI recipients will also receive their monthly payment on Black Friday. However, this payment will cover December, issued early due to December 1 falling on a Sunday. Average payments for retirees are around $1,920, with high-earner retirees receiving up to $4,873.

This structured payment schedule allows beneficiaries to better prepare for holiday shopping during the Black Friday sales.
