Costco’s $460 Gift Card Trade-In Deal: Is Best Buy Offering a Better Payout?

According to The Sun , Costco shoppers may be unaware that they can receive hundreds of dollars for trading in old tech devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops through the store’s trade-in program. Highlighted by finance educator Ravi Wadan in a popular TikTok video, the program offers gift cards worth up to $460 for various used devices.

In the video, Wadan walked viewers through the easy process of earning an instant credit. By visiting Costco’s trade-in program page, shoppers can select their device type, model, and condition, and receive an immediate quote for how much they’ll earn.

For instance, an iPhone 14 Pro Max 128GB could fetch up to $460, while other devices like Apple desktops or media players like Apple TV could be worth up to $1,025. However, the device must be in working condition and function properly to get the full payout.

While many viewers were excited about this money-saving hack, some pointed out that Best Buy offers a similar trade-in program, allowing shoppers to receive gift cards for various items like cameras, gaming consoles, and headphones. Deal hunters recommended comparing offers from both Costco and Best Buy before finalizing a trade-in to ensure the best payout.

To facilitate the trade-in process, Costco partners with third-party company Phobio. Customers can quickly receive a quote by entering device details on the Phobio platform. After shipping the device for inspection, customers can expect to receive a gift card within 6-15 days, depending on the processing time.

Along with the trade-in news, Costco fans have also been buzzing about new in-store policies and the popular Chick-fil-A “dupe” spotted by savvy shoppers. Additionally, many customers have been reacting to the new requirement of scanning membership cards to enter stores, which was implemented in late August.
