CASH BACK: Americans have hours left to grab $3k payment from $5.1m privacy settlement and no receipt needed to get the cash

According to The Sun , Americans have just a few hours left to claim a one-time payment of up to $3,000 as part of a significant $5.1 million privacy settlement. The class action lawsuit alleges that Magid Gloves violated Illinois privacy laws by using fingerprint time clocks and temperature scanners without proper notification to users.

Eligible individuals do not need to present receipts to receive their share of the settlement. Anyone who used these technologies at Magid’s Romeoville facility between January 8, 2016, and August 30, 2024, can benefit from this settlement.

The lawsuit claims that Magid Gloves collected biometric information, including fingerprints and temperature data, without informing the individuals using these devices. This is alleged to be a violation of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). Although Magid Gloves, which manufactures protective work gear, has not admitted to any wrongdoing, the company has agreed to a $5.175 million settlement.

Those eligible for compensation could receive approximately $3,244.38 if they used the fingerprint scanning devices. For individuals whose temperatures were taken by the scanners, up to $135.26 can be claimed. The deadline for exclusion and objection is October 29, and the final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for December 20.

In both cases, consumers need only a bank statement to claim their share.

Cash App users also have 24 hours left to claim up to $2,500 as part of a $15 million settlement over allegations of negligence and breaches of trust. To apply for these settlements, eligible individuals simply need to complete the necessary forms.
