According to Vibes.okdiario, On Monday, New York Mayor Eric Adams unveiled the city’s new “Money in Your Pockets” initiative, designed to raise awareness among residents in 20 neighborhoods about the benefits available through various city programs. This initiative reflects a commitment to support New Yorkers facing economic challenges.
A Personal Commitment to Change
“I was raised by a single mother who had to juggle multiple jobs to ensure my siblings and I had a roof over our heads and food on the table. The hustle was real,” Adams shared in a heartfelt statement. “Sadly, many New Yorkers are still in the same situation today, feeling as if the odds are stacked against them. However, our administration is committed to changing that. We’re dedicated to supporting New Yorkers and making this city more affordable.”
Building on Previous Successes
New York City is taking a significant step towards enhancing the well-being of its residents with the launch of the ‘Money in Your Pockets’ initiative. This program aims to help New Yorkers discover the benefits for which they qualify, building on the billions of dollars already funneled into the pockets of hardworking families.

“Our vision is to create a city where opportunity and prosperity reach every neighborhood and community because New Yorkers deserve their fair share, and we’re committed to delivering it to them,” said Adams.
Introducing ‘Get the Good Stuff’
As part of the new program, Get the Good Stuff, New Yorkers can enjoy a dollar-for-dollar match on eligible fruits, vegetables, and beans. Here’s how it works:
- For every dollar spent in SNAP benefits on eligible food items, participants receive a matching dollar added to a “Get the Good Stuff” loyalty card.
- Residents can earn up to $10 per day in matching funds.
This initiative not only promotes healthier eating habits but also enhances the value of SNAP benefits, making nutritious food more accessible to all New Yorkers. By participating, families can ensure that more money stays in their pockets while enjoying fresh, wholesome foods.
A Step Towards a Prosperous Future
Mayor Adams emphasized that this initiative is just one of many steps towards building a city where every resident can thrive. With ‘Money in Your Pockets’ and ‘Get the Good Stuff’, New York City is paving the way for a more equitable and prosperous future.
