According to Marca, Residents of Alaska can access up to $3,284 through various state benefits in 2024, aimed at helping locals cope with the harsh winter and rising energy costs.
Breakdown of the Stimulus Checks
The benefits, administered by the Alaska Department of Revenue, will be distributed in two parts, allowing residents to manage their resources effectively during freezing temperatures that can plummet to -15°F.
- Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD): This payment, amounting to $2,634, comes from profits generated by the sales of Alaska’s natural resources. It is distributed annually, meaning qualifying residents can claim it again in 2025.
- Energy Relief Payment: This one-time payment contributes the remaining $650. Unlike the PFD, this payment will not be available in subsequent years as things currently stand.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for these benefits, Alaskans must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a valid Social Security Number.
- Be a resident of Alaska.
- Have no criminal record and have filed taxes on time.
- Individuals aged 65 and older or those living with disabilities also qualify for the benefits.

Payment Distribution Timeline
Good news for residents facing financial challenges this fall: the Alaska Department of Revenue began distributing the benefits on October 3, 2024.
Payments are issued based on an “eligible not-paid” status, which was determined as of September 20 for the initial distribution. The next round of payments is expected soon for those with an “eligible not-paid” status between September 21 and October 14.
How to Check Your Status
Alaskans can check their payment status by visiting the Alaska Department of Revenue’s PFD portal. For direct inquiries, residents can contact the department via telephone, mail, or email.
