Social Security Payments: January SSI Check of $943 Issued in 24 Days

The January Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment, worth up to $943, will be issued to millions of beneficiaries in just 24 days.

Due to the January 1 federal holiday, the next SSI payments will be distributed on December 31. These payments are for individuals living with severe disabilities that affect their ability to earn income.

The payment amount varies based on several factors, including the applicant’s filing status. Those filing individually can receive up to $943 per month, couples filing jointly can receive up to $1,415, and essential persons—those who assist SSI recipients with daily care—can receive up to $472. This year, inflation has led to a 3.2% increase in these amounts compared to last year.

To qualify for SSI, applicants must be at least partially blind or have a physical or mental condition that severely limits daily activities for at least 12 months, or one that may result in death.
