Social Security: SSDI Payments of Up to $3,822 Set for Issuance Next Week

According to Vibes.okdiario, Disability Insurance payments are not over in October. On October 16, recipients of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) who started collecting benefits after April 30, 1997, and whose birthdays fall between the 11th and 20th, will receive their payments.

Check Your Bank Account

You can check your bank account to see if the Social Security Administration (SSA) has already sent your SSDI payment. Rest assured, this will not be the last disability payment in October.

Upcoming SSDI Payment on October 23

Another payment is scheduled for October 23. However, it’s important to note that none of the SSDI payments in 2024 will include the 2025 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) increase. Recipients will have to wait until January for this boost. To receive money on October 23:

  • Beneficiaries must have been on SSDI after April 30, 1997.
  • Their birth date must fall between the 21st and 31st.
  • They must remain eligible and continue to have a qualifying disability.

SSI Payments and SSDI in November

If you are also receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) along with SSDI, your next SSI payment will be on November 1. Therefore, you will receive both SSI and Disability Insurance on the same payday next month. Social Security is set to send this payment early, as the usual payment date falls on a weekend.

SSDI Payment Amounts Without the 2025 COLA

Both SSDI checks and direct deposits in October will have the same maximum amount. Disability Insurance recipients can receive maximum payments of up to $3,822 in 2024.

On average, SSDI payments are approximately $1,539 as of August 2024. This average amount may be more representative of what most recipients actually receive, as few qualify for the largest SSDI payment.

Projected Changes After the 2025 COLA Increase

After the 2025 COLA increase, which will take effect on January 3, the average SSDI payment is expected to rise to about $1,577. For example:

  • If you currently receive $1,000 in 2024, your Disability Insurance payment will be approximately $1,025 in 2025.
  • If you receive $500 per month in 2024, your payment will increase to about $512 in 2025.

Potential Eligibility for Supplemental Security Income

If your SSDI payment is on the lower end, you may also qualify for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). It is advisable to check with your local SSA office to determine your eligibility.
