West Virginia High School Football Rankings: Top Teams as of 9/30/2024
Five weeks into the 2024 West Virginia high school football season, High School on SI has released its updated computer rankings for the top teams in the state.
The rankings are based on SBLive’s formula, which uses a linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. This method was originally developed by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, to address the subjectivity and controversy surrounding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s. Colley’s algorithm is unique in that it relies solely on objective data with no subjective input.
