The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) is investigating a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a woman walking alone on Tuesday evening.
According to SJPD, the incident occurred at 6:31 p.m. at the intersection of South Fifth and East Fernando streets. A man driving a silver 2018 Nissan Sentra struck the woman as she was crossing the street. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries a few days later, officials reported.
This incident marks the 41st traffic-related death in San Jose this year and the 15th pedestrian fatality in 2024.
