Authorities are searching for 36-year-old Steven James Scott, who is wanted on charges of theft and fraud for allegedly defrauding an Ormond Beach couple in a solar power scam. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reports that Scott collected $37,044 from the victims for a solar power system but failed to remit the payment to his employer.
Scott, a former salesman for a solar power company, reportedly lied about processing the payment before quitting his job and disappearing. The victims initially brought the case to the attention of Sheriff Mike Chitwood earlier this year.

A warrant has been issued for Scott’s arrest on charges of organized scheme to defraud and grand theft. The bond is set at $40,000, and the warrant includes a nationwide pickup order.
Scott’s last known address was in Orlando, but the current resident at that location stated that he no longer lives there.
