Jamarice Wilder Dominates Class 7-A Final, Leading Venice to State Title

Venice High School running back Jamarice Wilder delivered an outstanding performance in the Class 7-A state championship game in Florida, leading his team to a 52-19 victory over Lake Mary on Saturday afternoon. The University of Louisville signee rushed for 178 yards and scored three touchdowns in the dominant win, helping Venice secure its fourth state title.

Wilder’s touchdowns came from 7, 12, and 19 yards, showcasing his explosive running ability. The game capped off a stellar season for the three-star prospect, who had previously committed to James Madison before flipping to Louisville in November.

As a junior, Wilder had an impressive 1,271 yards and 25 touchdowns on 149 carries. His senior season was even more remarkable, as he rushed for 1,916 yards and 28 touchdowns in 13 games, averaging 10.2 yards per carry. He also had nine games rushing for over 100 yards.

One of his standout performances came in a victory over Miami Northwestern in the second game of the season, where Wilder rushed for 314 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries. Venice won the thrilling game 48-42, and Northwestern later went on to win the 3-A state title.

In addition to Louisville, Wilder received scholarship offers from a wide range of schools, including Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Colorado, East Carolina, Indiana, Iowa State, Liberty, Marshall, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Tulane, UCF, West Virginia, and others. After initially committing to Colorado, he switched his commitment to James Madison in June before ultimately choosing Louisville.
