According to Vibes.okdiario , The Social Security Administration (SSA) has completed issuing the December payments to SSDI recipients who began receiving disability benefits before May 1997. These recipients, along with those on Supplemental Security Income (SSI), received their payments on December 3, 2024. However, for those who began collecting disability benefits after April 30, 1997, and were born between the 1st and 10th of any month, their SSDI payments were issued on December 11, 2024.
Looking ahead, SSDI recipients should prepare for their January 2025 payments. The average payment for January will be approximately $1,580, which reflects a $38 increase over 2024’s amount. If your disability check is lower than average, you can expect a smaller increase. For example, if your monthly check is $500, your new amount after the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will be $512.50.
