Hannah Kobayashi, the 30-year-old woman from Hawaii who went missing after missing a flight in Los Angeles in November, has been found safe, her family confirmed Wednesday.
Through a family attorney, a statement expressed their “relief and gratitude” for her safe return. The statement, issued by her mother Brandi Yee and sister Sydni Kobayashi, acknowledged the difficult month they had endured. They requested privacy as they process the events. “This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family, and we kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through,” they wrote. “We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us.”
Police investigation revealed that Kobayashi had voluntarily left the U.S., crossing into Mexico after sending cryptic text messages to her family. These messages led to large-scale searches for her in Mexico’s second-largest city. Tragically, during the search, her father, 58-year-old Ryan Kobayashi, passed away by suicide in Los Angeles.
The family’s statement did not provide further details about the circumstances of her disappearance or the events following her return.
