A hit-and-run crash in Hayward early Sunday morning resulted in the death of one person, confirmed the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to KRON4.
The incident occurred around 5:41 a.m. on westbound Highway 84, just east of South Paseo Parkway, where an unhoused individual was fatally struck.
The driver of a gray Dodge Charger fled the scene, but officers located a license plate at the crash site. They subsequently visited the registered owner’s home in their investigation.
As of now, CHP has not made any arrests and believes there was only one person in the Dodge at the time of the incident.
