While some Food Stamp beneficiaries began receiving funds on their EBT cards on October 1, recipients in South Dakota and Maine will not see their payments until October 10. Notably, these two states have arranged their payment schedules differently.
SNAP Payments in South Dakota
Residents of South Dakota who qualify for SNAP benefits can expect their funds to be available on their EBT cards on October 10. Unlike other states, South Dakota has a single payment date for all eligible recipients. It’s essential for beneficiaries to verify their case number, Social Security Number, or Eligibility Determination Group to ensure they receive their correct payment amounts.
Here are the maximum SNAP payment amounts for households in South Dakota and the other 48 contiguous states:
- 1 person: Up to $292
- 2 people: Up to $536
- 3 people: Up to $768
- 4 people: Up to $975
- 5 people: Up to $1,158
- 6 people: Up to $1,390
- 7 people: Up to $1,536
- 8 people: Up to $1,756
- Each additional person: $220

SNAP Payments in Maine
Maine will also start disbursing Food Stamp payments on October 10 but will continue delivering them until October 14. The state has structured its payment schedule to include five different paydays throughout this period.
To qualify for a specific payment date, recipients need to know the last digit of their birth date. Here’s how the schedule works:
- Birth dates ending in 0 or 9: Payments on October 10
- Birth dates ending in 1 or 8: Payments on October 11
- Birth dates ending in 2 or 3: Payments on October 12
- Birth dates ending in 4 or 7: Payments on October 13
- Birth dates ending in 5 or 6: Payments on October 14
