According to The Sun , An upcoming shopping blackout will affect the hours of major retailers and grocery stores, including Kroger, in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. The grocery chain will alter its store schedules, with many locations closing for the day or operating with reduced hours.
Thanksgiving, just over a week away on November 28, is a busy time for Americans preparing large feasts, and those planning to cook should gather their ingredients ahead of time, as store hours will be impacted. Kroger has confirmed that most of its locations will close at 5 PM on Thanksgiving Day, with varying opening hours depending on the store. Customers are advised to check with their local Kroger ahead of time or call to confirm store hours.
Kroger operates over 1,200 grocery stores across the U.S. under its own name, as well as other brands like Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Kwik Shop. In total, the Kroger Company runs around 2,750 grocery retail stores across its different chains.
Several other grocery stores will also adjust their hours for Thanksgiving. Retailers like Albertsons, Food Lion, H.E.B., and Whole Foods will remain open with reduced hours, but many others, including Trader Joe’s, Aldi, BJ’s, Publix, Sam’s Club, Costco, and Target, will be closed for the day.
Walmart, another retail giant, will also close its nearly 5,000 locations nationwide on Thanksgiving. This marks Walmart’s fifth consecutive closure for the holiday, a practice it began in 2020 due to the pandemic. Other popular shopping destinations will follow suit, with Nordstrom closing all 360 of its stores for the day, and Macy’s and Bath & Body Works also shuttering their locations.
Shoppers are encouraged to plan ahead as Thanksgiving approaches, especially if they need to stock up on last-minute supplies for their holiday meals.
