According to Marca, If you’re a recipient of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, there’s good news for Florida beneficiaries starting in 2025. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has implemented a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) to SNAP benefits, which took effect on October 1, 2024. This adjustment is designed to help low-income households manage the rising costs of living.
When Will the SNAP Increase Take Effect?
As of October 1, 2024, new maximum payment amounts have been applied to Florida beneficiaries and all beneficiaries across 49 states, Washington D.C., and U.S. territories. These increased SNAP benefits will continue throughout the 2025 fiscal year, offering some financial relief to families in need.
Higher SNAP Benefits for Certain Regions
For recipients in Alaska, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, benefit amounts are higher due to the increased cost of living in these regions. However, there is one exception—Hawaii. Hawaii will experience a reduction in maximum benefits due to a lower cost of living adjustment for that state.
New Maximum Allotments for SNAP
Although the increase may be modest, it provides crucial assistance in helping households keep pace with inflation. After the COLA adjustment, the new maximum allotments for SNAP are as follows:
- 1-person household: $292 per month
- 2-person household: $536 per month
- 3-person household: $768 per month
- 4-person household: $975 per month
- 5-person household: $1,158 per month
- 6-person household: $1,390 per month
- 7-person household: $1,536 per month
- 8-person household: $1,756 per month

Payment Dates for October 2024
The date when you will start receiving the increased benefits depends on your state or territory. Some states distribute payments as early as October 1, while others stagger payments throughout the month.
For example, SNAP recipients in Alaska will receive payments on October 1, while those in Florida and Texas could see payments distributed over the course of the month.
