According to Vibes.okdiario , Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients do not all receive the same payment amount. While some may believe SSI is funded through Social Security, it is actually funded by the federal government, not the SSA’s Trust Funds. The amount you receive depends on how you qualify, and this can result in higher or lower payments.
For instance, an “essential person” can receive up to $472 per month. An individual who is low-income, blind, disabled, or over 65 may receive up to $943. Married couples who qualify for SSI can receive up to $1,415. These amounts do not include the 2025 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase.
New SSI Payment Date for December
All eligible SSI beneficiaries have already received their payments for November. These checks and direct deposits were issued on November 1, 2024.
However, if you check the Social Security payment schedule, you will notice there is no SSI check scheduled for December 1. This payment hasn’t been canceled, but it has been rescheduled and will be issued two days early. SSI payments for December will be issued on November 29, 2024, which means some recipients will receive two payments in one month, but it is actually just an early distribution for December.

Why is the December Payment Issued Early?
The early payment is due to a change in the Social Security Administration’s schedule. The January 1 SSI payment cannot be made on a federal holiday. As a result, the payment for January 2025 will be issued on December 31, 2024. This means that about 7.5 million SSI recipients will receive their 2025 COLA increase before American retirees who rely on Social Security.
Updated Maximum SSI Benefits for December 31, 2024:
- Essential Person: Up to $484
- Individual: Up to $967
- Married Couple: Up to $1,450
These updated amounts reflect the new 2025 COLA increase and will be distributed to eligible recipients on December 31, 2024.
