Oakland Man Arrested in San Mateo for Felony Possession of Pepper Spray While in Construction Disguise
The San Mateo Police Department responded to an unusual call this week regarding a suspicious individual on Sky Court. According to a social media post by the department, officers were alerted by a homeowner who reported a masked man wearing a hard hat who had been persistently knocking on their front door and window. The late hour and his behavior raised concerns about the legitimacy of his presence in the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the man trying to hide, further escalating the situation’s unease. He was detained for questioning and was identified as a resident of Oakland. Police noted that he had “no legitimate reason” for being in the San Mateo neighborhood.
The man was ultimately arrested for being a “convicted felon in possession of pepper spray,” as confirmed by the San Mateo Police Department.
