Arizona Shoppers Alert: Target Closes All Locations for 48 Hours
The term “last minute” has long been synonymous with holiday shopping. Perhaps that’s why retailers are starting the season earlier each year.
A Shift in Holiday Advertising
If you noticed corporate advertising for the holidays ramping up in early October this year, you’re not imagining it. With rising prices and a struggling economy, advertisers and retailers are feeling the pressure, fearing that shoppers won’t spend as they have in previous years.
Changing Retail Strategies
Despite the urgency retailers seem to be experiencing, one major retailer is making a significant change by closing its doors during two of the busiest shopping holidays.
“To Allow Employees to Spend the Holiday with Their Loved Ones”
Historically, retailers have remained open on Thanksgiving and Christmas, eager to capture last-minute shoppers who need to pick up forgotten items. However, times are changing. Target has announced that it will close its Arizona stores on both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day this year.

Target’s Holiday Closure Plans
Target first decided to close on Thanksgiving during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to reduce crowds and enable employees to enjoy the holiday with their loved ones. The positive feedback led to the continuation of this policy.
This year, Target will close its stores on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, and will also be closed on Christmas Day, December 25. Most locations are expected to reopen on December 26 at regular hours. This decision reflects the retailer’s commitment to allowing employees to spend quality time with family and friends, free from the pressure of last-minute holiday shoppers.
Plan Ahead for Your Holiday Needs
So if you realize you’ve forgotten to buy the stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll need to find an alternative since Arizona Target stores will be closed on those days. However, Target plans to have extended shopping hours both before and after the holidays to accommodate shoppers’ needs.
