Claim Your Share: Clif Bar Buyers Can Reap Rewards from $12 Million Settlement

According to The Sun, CLIF Bar, known for its protein and snack bars marketed to outdoor enthusiasts and children, is set to pay $12 million to resolve claims that its labeling misled customers about the healthiness of its products.

Settlement Details

The settlement, which does not involve any admission of wrongdoing by the company, arises from allegations that the packaging of CLIF Bars created a misleading impression of being healthy, despite containing high levels of added sugars.

Eligibility for Cash Payments

Customers who purchased eligible CLIF Bar products between specific dates may be eligible for cash payments based on the quantity of bars purchased. The tiered compensation structure is as follows:

  • $5 for up to 30 bars
  • $10 for 31 to 59 bars
  • $15 for over 60 bars

Payments will be made with or without proof of purchase. However, customers providing proof can earn $15 for the first 60 bars, and an additional 25 cents per bar for any additional purchases, up to a maximum payment of $50.

Important Deadlines

To receive payment from the settlement, claim forms must be submitted by November 25, 2024. Here are key dates to remember:

  • October 22, 2024: Deadline for exclusion and objection
  • November 14, 2024: Final approval hearing for the settlement
  • November 25, 2024: Claim form submission deadline

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for the settlement, customers must have purchased CLIF Bars featuring phrases like “Nutrition for Sustained Energy” or CLIF Kid ZBars with claims such as “No High Fructose Corn Syrup” and “Nourishing Kids in Motion.”

Purchase Dates

  • California and New York residents: Eligible purchases between April 19, 2014, and March 31, 2023
  • Residents outside California and New York: Eligible purchases between March 31, 2019, and March 31, 2023
